Sump pumps are used to pump out clear water (not sewer water). They can get stopped up or burn out. If you suspect your pump is not working properly or making a humming noise, unplug it or disconnect the power to it and give us a call. Be aware that if you attempt to plug the pump in directly and bypass the switch plug you may burn your pump out causing a much more costly problem. If caught early on and unplugged, chances are it can be repaired.

Sewer ejector pumps (commonly mistakenly for a sump pump) are used for pumping out waste or sewer water. As with your sump pump, please avoid bypassing the switch plug and simply shut the power off until it can be checked out by a plumber.
